Transitional
Housing Program
EBOL collaborates with the Capital Hill Congregation Based
Shelter Program to provide transitional housing to homeless families
in the District of Columbia. We began by providing services in the
church’s board room. Families are now located in the EBOL which is
known as the “Light House”. |

Immigration Services Program
Emory’s immigration clinic opened for clients on June 30, 2003, with
sixteen volunteers. The importance of volunteers cannot be
overstated. In the case of Emory, volunteers not only provide the
person power to make each clinic successful, they also provide
important links to the immigrant community.......more

Storefront Improvement Program
This
façade improvement program is designed to assist business owners in
the 6100 – 6300 blocks of Georgia Avenue N.W. enhance their
commercial/retail properties - complete with new neon signage,
two-tone color and safety improvements. When the work to refurbish
the storefronts is completed this year improvements will contribute
to a better brighter Brightwood, attracting new businesses and
clients who walk and travel the Georgia Avenue corridor. |

Business Assistance Program

by a grant from the DC Department of Small and Local Business
Development (DSLBD) we provide
business assistance
and technical support to local small businesses. The two
target areas are:

Youth Leadership Support
Programs
Our Youth Programs—target and
reach-out to middle, junior and high school students. Leadership programs
continue to be developed and implemented in order to provide youth,
positive and constructive leadership outlets in diverse ways
throughout the Brightwood Community. Program Activities and
Workshops include: After-school tutoring, Summer Youth Retreat,
Conflict Resolution Training, Self-Awareness Seminars, Community
Tours, and Neighborhood Clean-ups. |
