Hazel Broadnax,
President
Hazel is a
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Government
Financial Manager (CGFM). She retired from the Federal
government in 2005 as the Chief Financial Officer of the Pension
Benefit Guaranty Corporation, a Federal corporation created to
protect the pensions of Americans in defined benefit pension
plans. She currently works for KPMG as a consultant assigned to
NASA. She is a resident of the Brightwood community and is very
active in civic events and Emory United Methodist Church.

Philbert M.
Alvin Benjamin, Vice President
Philbert serves
in the absence of the President. He is currently employed as a
security officer for the District of Columbia. Philbert is a
resident of the District of Columbia, an active member of Emory
United Methodist Church and very active in the community and
projects for men.

Pierre Dugan,
Treasurer
Pierre is a
member of Teferith Israel Synagogue which is a part of EBOL's
faith-to-faith partnership with the Jewish community through
YACHAD, a community housing organization. He is a partner in an
insurance consultant firm and has extensive experience in the
insurance industry. He serves as a volunteer coordinator to more
than 20 volunteers in our transitional housing program from his
synagogue.

Marcia
Mendenhall, Secretary
Marcia is a
teacher at a private school in Brightwood. She has worked in
education for more than twenty years. She is a life long
resident of the Brightwood community and plays a vital role in
EBOL's mentoring programs for youth and senior citizens.

Lillette
Campbell, Director
Lillette has owned and operated Bridges Academy located in the
6100 Block of Georgia Avenue, NW for the last 25 years. She
represents the Board with other businesses on the Avenue, as
well as leading our business and economic team on the board

Randall Clarke,
Director
Randall is a
VP/Commercial Development Manager with Mid-Atlantic Commercial
Properties/Morgan Property Group, guiding the firm's
neighborhood retail developments in the Mid-Atlantic region. In
previous positions, Randall focused on public-private
development and privatization initiatives. Randall is a member
of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Urban
Land Institute (ULI), and the African American Real Estate
Professionals of Washington (AAREP). Randall Clarke is the 1st
Vice President and Economic Development Chair of the Brightwood
Community Association in NW, DC where he and his wife have lived
for the past five years

Joseph W.
Daniels, Director
Pastor Daniels
is the Senior Pastor of Emory United Methodist Church (EUMC) at
6100 Georgia Avenue where he has served for the past 13 years.
He is very active in community affairs serving as one of the
founders and co-chairs of the Washington Interfaith Network
(WIN) and the board of directors of the Council of Churches of
Greater Washington. He serves on the advisory board of the
Fannie Mae Foundation. From 2004-5, he participated in the
Rockefeller Fellows Program which chose only 24 persons
nationwide. His depth and breath of community contacts such as
these bring a wealth of resources to the Beacon of Light.

Merrit P.
Drucker, Director
Merrit is
employed as the Clean City Coordinator, in the Office of the
City Administrator, for the District of Columbia. Prior to
becoming the Clean City Coordinator, he served as the Ward 4
Neighborhood Services Coordinator, responsible for community
development and improving service delivery. He is retired from
the US Army, and has Master's degrees in Philosophy and Human
Resources Management. Merrit is a Ward 4 resident and resides
in the Shepherd Park community.

LaDelle Y.
Feemster, Director
Pastor Feemster is the Executive Pastor of Emory United
Methodist Church. She is responsible for the oversight of the
day to day operations of the church. Before serving at Emory,
LaDelle served as an instructor at the Kenya Highlands Bible
Colege in Kenya, East Africa. She was also previously employed
as the Executive Director of the Emory Beacon of Light, Inc. and
as administrative staff for the Theological Education and
Leadership Development Program at the Congress of National Black
Churches, Inc

Kevin
Jefferson, Director
Kevin is a
podiatrist in the Brightwood Community with an office off
Georgia Avenue. He plays a vital role between the businesses and
the Beacon of Light in the neighborhood. He works with
individuals reentering the community after incarceration.

Jennifer E.
Loud, Director
Jennifer is an
attorney and a principal in the law firm of Loud & Loud located
in the District of Columbia off Georgia Avenue in the Shepherd
Park area. Jennifer provides pro bono work to the Beacon of
Light and serves as our general counsel. Jennifer resides in
Ward 4 in the Shepherd Park area. She is an active member of the
Emory United Methodist Church serving in various capacities.

Belva E. Milson,
Director
Belva is an accountant for the National Association of
Manufacturers. She is one of the founding members of the Beacon
of Light. She is very active and supportive of the transitional
housing ministry. She serves in various capacities of Emory
United Methodist Church

Debra Stevens,
Director
Debra provides
staff and clerical support to a private business. She is a
former client of our transitional housing program and is a great
success story for the program. She mentors youth in her
neighborhood as well as participates in other civic and
community activities. She is a resident of the District of
Columbia.

Diane Lammy,
Director
Diane is a
Vice-President of Sun Trust Bank. She has a background in
finance. She has an outstanding track record in the area of
retail banking. Management and supervision of overall expense
profit performance for multiple branches of Sun Trust. She is an
adept analyst of the banking industry with over twenty-seven
years of progressive banking experience which includes training
and mentoring managers. She is a resident of ward 4.
